v0.34.1: The timer in the tray

v0.34.0 put the timer in the top bar. In the desktop app there’s a place that’s even closer at hand: the tray icon, which stays put while the window is minimised or closed to the tray. v0.34.1 completes the timer there.

What the tray menu shows

The first line of the tray menu now tells you what the timer is doing: No timer running, or what’s being timed and since when, like ⏱ Support (Acme Corp) — since 09:03.

  • While a timer runs: Stop and book books the time, and Switch… brings the window up with the panel for timing something else (the running timer is booked first).

  • When none runs: Start: Support (Acme Corp) restarts your last pick with one click, and Start timer… opens the window with the timer panel to pick something else.

Discarding a timer stays in the panel, since it asks for confirmation first.

If the window is hidden when you start or stop from the tray, a desktop notification tells you what was booked.

Always in sync

The tray, the top-bar button, and warmdesk-timer are one and the same timer. Stop it from a terminal or in a browser tab, and the tray menu switches to No timer running by itself. When time tracking is off for you, or the server is older than v0.33.0 and has no timer, the tray menu is just WarmDesk and Quit, as before.

See the System tray section of the User Guide for more.

Upgrade

Download v0.34.1 from the download page or pull the latest release tag; the tray menu comes with the updated desktop app. No database migration is needed.
